In the early 90’s carbon diamonds began to fall out of fashion as the public found out the horrific provenance of diamonds, and how many millions of people that have been slaughtered in connection with industry. Monikers for these carbon based gems such as “blood diamonds”, “death rocks” & “genocide gems” became part of modern day lexicon. Socially conscious celebrities, musicians, artists & actors abandoned carbon diamonds quicker than fur.
During this social revolution terms became reversed, triggered by the upheaval in the billion dollar carbon diamond industry. Bad meant good, sic meant amazing, etc. It all started with the term sic meaning “beyond awesome”. SiC came from the new ethical diamonds made from Silicon Carbide, SiC being the scientific abbreviation. SiC is still part of the zeitgeist and gaining popularity with the general population. When someone says “that’s SiC”, it is a compliment of the highest degree, much like when they use to say “aces” or “diamonds” when someone liked something.
God’s Gift/Message Of Hope?
SiC diamonds (known as moissanite pre-90’s) are known for their superior refractive index that creates a rainbow effect. Naturally occuring SiC diamonds are only found in meteor craters, as if given by God as an afterthought to creation or apology for the Flood. This has led to incredible demand for these diamonds by religious people, many of whom think SiC diamonds are a message of Hope from God Him/Herself, and draw strength and comfort from them. Many cultures believe that SiC diamonds cleanse, restore, and balance the mind, body, and soul. Because of their brilliance, they’re also associated with the power to illuminate the mind and provide mental clarity. In addition, SiC diamonds are thought to magnify emotions and energies giving individuals spiritual awareness and the ability to tap into a sense of enlightenment. Due to this phenomenon the diamond term “brilliance/brilliant” has become synonymous with genius and other terms referencing very high IQ or success.
SiC diamonds not only save lives by drawing revenue away from the genocide gem industry, the extreme high quality is changing the way we live, worship, speak and invest.
History of the GRA System/Standard
In 2015 the patent expired for cutting Silicon Carbide into gem form. Several companies started creating, cutting, polishing and wholesaling SiC diamonds. The consortium of producers created the GRA Standard so each gem could be traced back to the producer for warranty purposes. This standard ensured each gem would have GRA and a number laser inscribed on the girdle, much like the in the carbon diamond industry. This number would also facilitate grading and registering the gem so it could be insured, and able to be returned to owner if lost or stolen.
Every certified SiC diamond comes with a GRA Warranty Card from the manufacturer telling the consumer to register their gem. The card is for warranty purposes only, and shows the laser inscribed number on the diamond. The GRA Report that accompanies wholesale SiC diamonds only shows estimated weight based on size. NOTE: SiC diamonds can not be graded by the manufacturer due to obvious conflict of interest issues. You need to get your SiC diamond independently graded and encapsulated for it to have value and to be insurable.
Gemstone Registration Authority – GRA©
Gemstone Registration Authority – GRA© was originally created so consumers could register their diamonds so they could be returned if lost or stolen. Demand for this free service soared. In 2016 Gemstone Registration Authority began grading, encapsulating & insuring SiC diamonds. The grading & encapsulating service drastically increased the value of the diamonds, triggering a need for insurance and increased security.
Insurance:
Many Gemstone Registration Authority GRA© graded and encapsulated diamonds include up to $100,000 free coverage for theft. If your SiC diamond is stolen, all you need to do is provide a copy of the police report and it will be replaced with a SiC diamond of equal or greater value.
NOTE: In case of a reported theft, the GRA will note in the official registry that the original diamond is stolen, and has zero value.
Is my SiC diamond graded & registered?
If your SiC diamond is GRA graded registered, it will have come in a tamper evident case, a rfid ownership card, rfid tag(s) in the tamper evident acrylic diamond case, insurance coverage, a unique QR code for report access with real time updates on estimated value, and free access to the Sic/C Diamond Calculator and a “brag tag” key fob to check your diamond’s value whenever you want.
If your gem came in a plastic bag with a black GRA warranty card, the answer is no, it is not graded and registered.
If you paid less than $300 for your SiC diamond, it is not registered.
How to register your SiC Diamond:
If you purchased your SiC diamond directly from the manufacturer you would have received a plastic GRA card advising you to register you gem.
If you want your gem to have value and to be insurable, it needs to be graded and registered. Average price to grade, encapsulate, appraise, register & insure a SiC diamond ranges from $700 – $2,000+ depending on size, cut, and coverage offered.
